We moved from Pacific Palisades, California, where Esmee also had a great deal of homework at Paul Revere Charter Middle School in Brentwood. My wife and I have noticed since she started there in February of last year that she has a lot of homework. But, we found the sentence in past perfect form means the action is done in the past just before the next event that was also done in the past.Esmee is in the eighth grade at the NYC Lab Middle School for Collaborative Studies, a selective public school in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Note: We note the sentence has two action denotes past form. So, we frame the sentence as I ‘apologized’ because I had forgotten my homework. When comparing the four options, we choose option B is perfectly fit for the sentence. As a result, this option is not appropriate for the sentence in past perfect form. Option D: ‘have apologized’ is the event that has happened in the past. As a result, this option is not fit for the sentence in past perfect form. Option C: am apologizing is the event that has happened in the present continuous. As a result, this option is the best fit for the sentence in past perfect form. Option B: apologized is the event that has happened in the past. Thus the option is not suitable for the sentence. But the sentence B is in the past perfect tense. Option A: ‘will apologize’ is the action but it will happen in future. So, you identify the sentence should be in past perfect form. In order to complete the sentence, ‘I had forgotten my homework’, the action is completed first and another action is also done in the past. It doesn’t matter if the subject is singular or plural the formula doesn’t change. The structure of the past perfect tense is subject + had +. The past perfect tense is for talking about something that happened before. Hint: The past perfect, also known as the pluperfect, is a verb tense that is used to describe behaviour that occurred before some point in the past. ![]()
